How it works

Your office clearance process, step by step

A good clearance starts before collection day. Here’s how to share the right information, agree the scope and get your office ready.

Get an office clearance quote
01

Show us what’s going

Send a few photos, an item list and your postcode. Let us know what’s staying, too.

02

Work through the details

We’ll discuss access, your preferred date and the scope of your written quote.

03

Get your space back

The agreed furniture and contents are cleared, with the arrangements confirmed beforehand.

Before you enquire.

These details give us a useful picture of the job.

1

Start with the contents

Write down what needs removed. Include quantities and distinguish items to keep, relocate or clear.

2

Show us the space

Photograph each group of items and the route out, including any stairs, lift or difficult doorway.

3

Explain the arrangements

Share your postcode, preferred date, building contact and loading restrictions. Flag any particular deadline.

Before collection.

Agree the important details while there’s time to plan.

Check the written scope

Make sure the items, access assumptions, price and collection arrangements reflect your requirements. Ask about anything that needs separate handling, including electrical equipment and confidential materials.

Make the keep-and-clear distinction visible

Label retained items and agree who can authorise changes. Let the team know if the inventory changes before collection day.

Coordinate the building

Confirm access with whoever manages your premises. Let us know about lift bookings, loading times and any documents requested by your building manager.

Read the complete preparation checklist

Collection and completion.

Give the collection team one agreed plan to work from.

Walk through the contents together

Have the person coordinating the clearance available to identify the listed rooms, retained items and route out. Make keys and any agreed building permissions available. Discuss a changed inventory before extra items are loaded.

Check the rooms against the inventory

At completion, check the agreed areas and record any outstanding items. Keep the quotation, any agreed changes and the relevant collection records together. If the clearance is part of leaving an office, arrange the separate property handover after the contents have been checked.

Our office clearance paperwork guide for Scotland explains the records to discuss. For a departure deadline, use the end of lease office clearance checklist.

An upstairs office?

Send photographs of the stair flights, landings, narrow openings and final loading point. Read our guide to office clearance without a lift before agreeing the access arrangements.
